Do Good Restaurant

Do Good Restaurant

Both racing home from work

Him with fire runs breaking up the productivity of the work day.

Me on a double shift

Pretending to be nice to a stream of post holiday customers.

The sky matching our moods >super< gray.

.

Our neighbors rolling up to pick us up

With dinner plans.

They have been telling us bits for years.

Each time struggling to find words

Yesterday, they settled with-

“You just have to see it-

It’s one of a kind-

Let’s go tomorrow.”

.

Following their hearts

The founders incorporating food with faith every step of the way.

Time after time, story after story

They listened, trusted and built

What they were called to do-

Do Good

A restaurant in a small farming town.

Everything tasting so real-definitely homemade with huge portions

And an impressive list of pies.

.

The look unique in and of itself-

From the counters to the ceiling

Across tables and along the walls

>Visual gems<

My favorite being-

Leonardo Da Vinci’s Last Supper

In vividly bright and broad brush strokes

Filling the whole upstairs.

You can’t help but think, everything feels like it is suppose to be here.

.

But easily the most touching point-

A photo and story at each table

Changed out every month

With all the tips gathered helping the family in need.

Ranging from doctor bills, adoptions, fires, disease, all the unplanned

Month after month

Tens of thousands of dollars collected

Neighbors helping neighbors

People being given the opportunity to help in little and big ways.

.

As if the food, art and the community focus is not enough.

We walked out the back doors to the gardens.

*oh.my.goodness*

I >must< come back in the summer.

They are growing art!

The outdoor lighting winds you down the path of the rosary

Which intertwined with the stations of the cross

Plants tucked in every corner with identification tags

Everything with a purpose and place.

Oh and the splash pad

So perfectly incorporated

Merging pieces that don’t seem to connect-

If I told you out loud-

But connect so perfectly-

When you live the experience.

.

Bellies full and hearts happy

We jumped back into the car

Returning home long after dark

Yet

Things seemed brighter.

.

Our first adventure for the year.
