During the hustle and bustle
Of warmer days
I catch myself
Looking forward to this time
Wishing for this time
Time when minutes seem longer
But days are shorter
When the weather is cooler
But commitments are fewer 
Extra space and time
To think and sit and sleep
All with a ready made excuse 
This time of year

But
In the moment 
I dread it
Wishing for life to 
Speed up
Warm up
Spice up
I can’t find peace in 
Routine
This time of year

Surely I can’t be the only one
Struggling to find happy 
In the slow
If you have mastered it
I would really like to know
Your secret 
Your motto
Your flow

For us
I handed her moodiness the map
Her “tween” attitude almost getting the best of me
Let’s search
Let’s find
That Chocolate Tree
The waterfall
The weirdest plant
The the familiar flower
Let’s drink up the thick humid air
Let’s find peace in this slower afternoon

And somehow 
Magicly 
The waterfall drums out the noise of life
The trees, the plants, the topical leaves
Shift our attitudes
We adjust the pace
We appreciate the now
We carry the warmth
All home with us
